Maximize your true potential

Life Coach Toronto

WHAT IS A LIFE COACH?

The ICF (International Coaching Federation) defines coaching as partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional development.

A life coach is a person who is professionally trained to know how to ask the right questions, actively listen, and communicate effectively. A life coach empowers and counsels individuals by providing them with a unique set of tools and techniques to help them maximize their personal and professional potential. The role of a coach is to help push you to identify your goals, and clarify obstacles that are holding you back. They hold you accountable to overcome those obstacles by helping you come up with different strategies unique to your situation.

WHAT DOES A LIFE COACH DO?

A Life Coach motivates clients to explore their values, strengths and capabilities using a solution-focused approach in order to help them reach their life, relationship and career goals. Coaching does not focus on your past but rather focuses on the here and now and what is needed in order to make it better.

A coach will analyze your current situation and help you identify your limiting beliefs and any other challenges you may face that are getting in the way of your personal and/or professional development. They will then help you come up with action steps in order to make sure that you are achieving your set out goals.

HOW DOES LIFE COACHING WORK?

The first step in coaching is defining your aim of the session and your vision. Using a specific structure and format, a coach will help you by asking you specific questions, and then creating a custom action plan that will best suit what you’re looking to achieve. Some questions you can expect a coach to ask are:

  • What is it that motivates you?

  • What is it that you’d like to achieve by the end of our session today?

After answering the questions your coach sets out for you, you’ll work alongside your coach to identify any obstacles and limiting beliefs that have been holding you back. You will continue to explore questions such as:

  • What negative thought patterns have been holding you back?

  • How have these patterns impacted you and how can you move past them?

After exploring all the right questions with your coach, you and your coach will create achievable goals. Your coach will help you determine your long and short term goals while making sure that they are aligning with your core values. You will then work on creating a plan of action and decide when and how you will commit to the action steps.

Your coach will always be there to hold you accountable and to encourage you through every step of the way. If obstacles arise along the way, you will receive the tools and techniques to help you cope with them. Your coach will frequently assess what is working well and what isn’t with the action plan so that if any modification needs to be made, it can be done accordingly. This will ensure constant success and motivation!
